We offer a fast, efficient and professional service for your POOL SAFETY CERTIFICATE.
New pool safety laws have been introduced in Queensland and from December 1st 2010, every Queensland pool must undergo a pool safety and fencing inspection. Regardless of whether your pool has previously been certified, every single pool must be registered and certified as a part of this new law.
You can find out detailed information on the new pool safety laws and pool safety standard at:
Queensland Government Department of Infrastructure and Planning.
Here's a brief overview of what you need to know.
- All pools must be registered on the state based pool safety register by 4th of May 2011.
- You have until 30th of November 2015 to comply with the new pool safety standard or earlier if you rent or sell your house before then.
- A pool safety certificate must be obtained and this is valid for 2 years.
- If you book an inspection and your pool does not comply you have 3 months to make good repairs and re-book another pool safety inspection.
- Safety barriers are mandatory for all portable pools and spas deeper than 300 millimeters
If you are selling your property you must obtain a pool safety certificate prior to the settlement of the contract or a Notice of no pool safety certificate - Form 36 must be completed and issued before contract and before settlement advising the buyer that a certificate must be obtained within 90 days of settelment.
If you are selling or entering into an accommodation agreement for units and townhouses with a shared pool or spa, there is two year phase-in preiod to obtain a pool safety certificate.
Here's what we can do for you.
If your pool complies with the new legislation we are able to issue a pool safety certificate immediately. Unfortunately if your pool does not comply you have 3 months to make good repairs and book an additional inspection, the cost for which is $110.00.
To save you time and money involved in additional inspections we are happy to provide the following information to help ensure your pool is up to the standard, in addition if there is anything you are unsure about please feel free to contact the inspector below.
- The pool must be completely surrounded by an approved fence.
- The height of all fencing must be 1200mm.
- Gates must self close and self latch from any open position.
- The gap between the gate and the post must be no more than 10mm.
- Latches above the gate must be at least 1500mm from the ground.
- Any gaps in or under the fence must be no larger than 100mm.
- All climbable objects must be kept well clear of the fence.
- Any windows opening into the pool area must not open more than 100mm.
- You must display a current resuscitation notice near the pool.
Already this summer we have carried out over 30 Pool Safety Inspections and only 1 pool has complied with the new standard. If you are concerned that your pool will not pass you can find out more detailed information at:
